NEF ANIMATION

28th Jan 2016

  Launch of NEF Animation

NEF Animation, the first French professional associative platform devoted to writing and animation, has just been launched.

Initiated by Xavier Kawa-Topor, founder of the residence for writing at Fontevraud Abbey and presided by Marie-Anne Fontenier, founder of the Supinfocom school and group, NEF Animation is an associative platform for projects and a place for both reflection on animation as an art form and focusing on initiatives.

Missions include:

  • helping with writing and creative research within the field of animated film, through writing residences to promote young talents on an international level
  • contributing to experience-swapping, training, passing on expertise and ideas’ discussions, through professional meetings and masterclasses
  • promoting French studies and research in animation by organising conferences and training days and publishing critical texts for a wide distribution
  • building up resources (particularly digital) on animated film and writing for/about it and showing this material/information through exhibitions, in publications and at meetings to promote animation as an art form.

NEF Animation will be involved in a range of activities during 2016 to create a professional ecosystem devoted to writing for and about animation structured around three major areas: creation, training and research.

The platform is supported by the SPFA, AFCA, CNC, the DRAC from Pays de la Loire and the Pays de la Loire region, as well as a sponsor committee of producers, writers and industry institutionals: Serge Bromberg, Didier Brunner, Jacques Colombat, Marc du Pontavice, Patrick Eveno, Jacques-Rémy Girerd, Laurence Herszberg, Marcel Jean, Jean-François Laguionie, Michel Ocelot, Claude-Éric Poiroux and Michel Reilhac.

The NEF Animation website is currently under construction but if you would like to be informed of future activities, you can sign up for the newsletter.
