'Mary and Max' screened at the Institut Lumière

The Institut Lumière welcomes you for a screening of "Mary and Max", as part of the Cinema and Psychiatry evening on November 20^th.

On the occasion of the 3^rd journées Cinéma et Psychiatrie organised by Le Vinatier hospital, the Institut Lumière invites you to a screening of the film Mary and Max, at 8:30 pm, Wednesday 20^th November.

Opening the programme: a selection of mini animation films created by patients from the Paul Sivadon hospital ? CHU Brugmann, Brussels, along with a presentation by psychiatrists from the Vinatier hospital.

Adam Elliot's claymation feature Mary and Max won the Cristal for best feature at Annecy 2009.

Take part in the next Franco-Swiss meeting

The day devoted to networking and discussion between professionals working in film and audiovisual from Switzerland and the Rhône-Alpes region will take place Monday, 4^th November 2013.

This meeting is dedicated to the production and co-production of works between Switzerland and the Rhône-Alpes region and will give 10 fiction, documentary or animation long format or TV series projects (4 Swiss and 6 French), all at different stages of development, the chance to be presented in the form of a pitch session.

The goal of the event is to promote co-production projects between the two territories.

If you are a film maker, producer, funder or broadcaster or you would just like to establish contacts with Swiss industry professionals, come along to la Maison des Arts du Grütli (16 rue Général-Dufour – 1204 Geneva – Switzerland) on Monday, 4^th November from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

This cross-border co-production meeting is organised by the Association Cinéma Tous Écrans and CITIA, in collaboration with Swiss Films and with support from Programme Interreg France-Suisse and the Office Fédéral de la Culture.

TV3.0: Understanding changes in the audiovisual industry

Come along to Annecy, the14^th and 15^th November for two days devoted to developments in the audiovisual industry

"How to finance content of the future?". This topic will take pride of place at this event, made up of workshops and case studies concerning funding sources for your projects, presented by some of the main actors from the sector including, YouTube France, Dailymotion, Canal +, Twitter, CNC, CAPA, Havas Productions, Media Desk France and Studio Bagel.

The event gives an opportunity to take stock of major audiovisual developments from the past year and understand the changes of tomorrow.

Social networks and media content

The 14^th November 2013, in Montreal, is the date set for a conference to talk about a major issue: the impact of social networks on media content.

Open to professionals working in media and digital content, the day will focus on the question of "How do various networks active on social media and the web influence, mould, finance and praise media content of all types?"

The Regroupement des Producteurs Multimédia (RPM), in collaboration with Imaginove and Forum Blanc, is offering a day of case studies, panels of experts, discussions and analysis to reflect on the contribution of social, participatory or sharing networks, in the promotion of media content.

Special Peter de Sève Workshop

"How to create an entertaining, endearing and unique character": this is the topic of the first part of a series of workshops devoted to artistic creation and co-organised by Le film français and Annecy.

Hosted by the renowned character designer Peter de Sève (Ice Age, Mulan, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life etc.), the workshop will take place in Paris on Tuesday, 12^th November.

On the programme for the day, reserved for industry professionals, students and Annecy 2013 accredited delegates: the artist's influences and work methods, the approach to characters, sketches and finalisations and finally, a practical exercise.

Workshop at Gobelins, or how to prepare your entry into the professional world

Every year, Gobelins, l'école de l’image organises a workshop to help prepare its 3D animation students to enter the professional world. In June 2013, this workshop, attended by Krystof Serrand, Shelley Page and other animation directors and supervisors, involved giving a contemporary approach to a plan taken from a cult animation film from their childhood.

Running for a 3^rd consecutive year, the 3D animator training is divided into nine months of classes and 3 months of internship.
The Annecy Festival is the opportunity to bridge the theory learned in class with practice during a work experience.
The workshop's teaching purpose is to learn how to communicate an animator's point of view on a film sequence by using technical skills, in line with the primary objective of enhancing the storytelling. The aim is to introduce the students to the job of animation supervisor, which includes briefing a team about an idea for animation, by using a critical approach in order to serve the narrative. This workshop was created by Gobelins, l'école de l'image, in collaboration with CITIA, city of moving images.

Compose the music for an animated film

Take part in this year's CIMFA, "Concours international de composition ? Musique de film d'animation" (international competition for animation film music composition) before 13^th April 2013.

Take part in the CIMFA 2013 by composing the original music (+ sound design) of one of the 8 short films made in 2013 by students from 4 French animation schools (Émile Cohl and ESIA 3D in Lyon, Supinfocom Arles and Lisaa Paris).

The compositions are to be created for 7 professional musicians from the Pays de Savoie orchestra (violin, viola, cello, double bass, oboe, horn and percussion).
The compositions written by the 10 finalists will be played live during a screening-concert performance at the Seynod Auditorium on 15^th June 2013.

The competition is being launched by the professional Master's degree course MAAAV (Musiques appliquées aux arts visuels) at the University Lyon 2, in partnership with the Pays de Savoie orchestra and the Seynod Auditorium.

Competition open to all.
